We want to help you with your dreams and expectations for your family. We believe that a Christian education grounded in individual student success helps develop healthy communities and families. We are pleased to offer many opportunities for our families:

Family Resources & Programs we offer:

  • Band (Grades 4-12): From just beginning to experienced, artists can participate in Wind Ensemble, Jazz, & Concert Band.

  • Celtic Sports Academy (Grade 4-12): Multi-Sport. Pursue your passion 2 days/week & explore other sports during Enhancement Days (1x per week).

  • DELF Assessment: International assessment to certify your son/daughter in the French Language through the Ministry in France. DELF assessments are available for French as a Second Language students and Immersion students.

  • Dual Credit, RAP Program and Student Work Experience

  • Early Literacy & Literacy Intervention (Grades 1-8): Intervention program during school hours that meets the needs of struggling readers.

  • Eye See, I Learn Program: School Eye Exams 

  • French Immersion (PreK-12): St Gérard is the Pre-K to 7 French Immersion Centre, and St. John Paul II/Faculté Jean-Paul II is the French Immersion Campus for Grade 8-12*. Grade 12 currently at St. Joseph Catholic High School. French Immersion will be phased out of St. Joseph Catholic High School in  2020-2021.

  • Grade 8-9 Families and Grade 10-12 Colleges (St. Joe's and St. John Paul II/Faculté Jean-Paul II): Worried about your son/daughter transitioning to the big high school? We now contain the Grade 8 and 9 students in "Families" as a means to better build relationships and transition students. The Family unit allows a more successful transition experience & integration with boundaries. "Colleges" prepare studennts for post-secondary.
  • Gifted Education (Grades 4-12): We believe in Inclusion, and therefore individual students needs are met within the context of the classroom. For more information please contact your school's Principal or Classroom Support Teacher.
  • High School Re-Design: St. Joe’s and St. John Paul II create highly student-centered, personalized classroom environments. This approach improves student engagement, student achievment, and personalizes the educational experience.
  • Integrated Fine Arts Education (PreK-7): Available at St. Catherine Catholic School. Explore individual artistic abilites and discover music, drama, dance & visual art. 

  • Montessori (Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 6): Learn the Alberta curriculum through a Montessori approach. 

  • Pre-Kindergarten (Ages 2.5 to 5): Early Learning program in our city schools (École St. Gérard, St. Clement, St. Kateri, Holy Cross, and St. Catherine) and in our rural schools (St. Mary's Sexsmith, Ste. Marie Spirit River, St. Mary Beaverlodge).

  • Service & Social Justice: Each High School has a student run Social Justice organization and youth volunteering programs.

  • YMCA KinderCare: St. Kateri, École St. Gérard, Mother Teresa, Holy Cross, St. Catherine, and St. John Paul II/Faculté Jean-Paul II. Run by YMCA on days when Kindergarten is not in session.

  • YMCA After School Care K-6: YMCA (St. Kateri, École St. Gérard, Mother Teresa, Holy Cross, St. Catherine, and St. John Paul II/Faculté Jean-Paul II).

  • Youth Day Program (Grades 7-12) eight-week program for youth who have been experiencing serious problems related to addiction and/or mental health.
