I am pleased to announce that Sherry Wishnowski will become the new Assistant District Principal of St. John Bosco Catholic School for Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools.

Sherry is an accomplished leader in education with over 20 years of teaching experience. She joined our District in 2007 where she initially taught Grade 5 at Holy Cross Catholic School before being appointed Assistant Principal. In her administrative position, Sherry continued teaching while also taking on the additional roles of Instructional Lead for the Differentiated Instruction initiative and the implementation of the Math Curriculum. In 2015, Sherry assumed her most recent teaching position at St. Patrick Catholic School, and in 2016 she taught summer school at St. John Bosco Outreach School.

During her time as Assistant Principal of Holy Cross Catholic School, Sherry completed her Masters of Education in Multi-Disciplinary Leadership, further complementing her experience and skill as a leader. She has demonstrated an ability to develop strong relationships with students, staff, and parents through organizing events including the Grade 8 Farewell/High School Transition, Terry Fox Run, and the annual Jasper ski trip. Sherry has also been actively involved in athletics, coaching track and field and floor hockey, being the Club Volleyball Team manager, and being a hockey team trainer.

In 2014, Sherry was the recipient of the Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools Education Foundation’s Essential Piece gift, which is awarded to individuals that have committed themselves to volunteering or investing in the community to benefit the future of students.

“Sherry is committed to the belief that every child can be successful, and with her knowledge and experience, we look forward to working with her as part of the administrative team,” said Superintendent Karl Germann.

Regarding the appointment, Sherry is eager to begin her new position, stating: “I am looking forward to my new role within the District and I am extremely excited about working with the staff and students of St. John Bosco.”

Sherry will begin her new position at St. John Bosco Outreach School in August 2017.
