New GPCSD Director of Facilities: Mark Coffin
I am pleased to announce that Mark Coffin will become the new Director of Facilities for Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools.
Mark has a decade’s worth of experience in various construction companies and projects. He earned his Red Seal and Carpentry training at Grande Prairie Regional College’s (GPRC) Fairview Campus. From 2008 to 2012 he worked as an apprentice Carpenter for Jen-Col Construction. During his time with JCC he honed his skills and has work experience with everything from concrete, painting and building commercial buildings.
In 2012, he transitioned to being a carpenter for JMS Construction, until 2014 when he became their Operations Manager.
As an Operations Manager he organized crews on multiple job sites, communicated the needs of the client(s) and quoted pricing for assignments. Another aspect of his job was creating detailed layouts for buildings using instruments like a Theodolite and laser level. For the next three years he would prosper alongside JMS, until he saw the opportunity to become the Director of Facilities at the Catholic Education Centre.
Mark is married to Erin and they have a daughter Alex and a son Nate. As a Christian, faith is important to Mark and his family. As a family they enjoy the great outdoors by camping, and Mark enjoys meeting new people and reading.
“It’s such an amazing opportunity to be involved with the growth of the Catholic education system in such a direct way. We have a growing region, which means we will have new buildings and construction projects that will need oversight,” said Mark Coffin in reference to his new position.
“Our school board is constantly growing at a rapid rate. We are currently around 5000 students and that number will only keep going up. It’s essential to have an individual with Mark’s experience on the team to help over-see the development and maintenance of future and current school locations,” Superintendent of Schools, Karl Germann.
We welcome Mark to the GPCSD CEC team and are looking forward to him taking on the role as our Director of Facilities, next week on November 8, 2017.
