Catholic Education Week, May 6-10
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
The celebration of Catholic Education Week across Canada is an opportunity for our faith communities to promote this important ministry of the Church.
The theme for Catholic Education Week 2019 is Rejoice and Be Glad (GE). The theme is inspired by Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation of the same name which speaks to the call to holiness in our world. The apostolic exhortation states, “This is a powerful summons to all of us. You need to see the entirety of your life as a mission. Try to do so by listening to God in prayer and recognizing the signs that he gives you. Always ask the Spirit what Jesus expects from you at every moment of your life and in every decision you must make, so as to discern its place in the mission you have received. Allow the Spirit to forge in you the personal mystery that can reflect Jesus Christ in today’s world.” (GE, 23)
Catholic schools play an important part in nurturing the call to holiness for our children and youth in partnership with their families and parish communities. Through religious education and prayer, Catholic Education provides students with the formation to know, love, and serve Christ.
We are thankful for how Catholic schools, families and parishes collaborate to support our young people in their journey of faith and their pursuit of excellence in learning. And we express our appreciation to the teachers, support staff, administration, trustees, parents and priests who serve our students in Catholic Education through their faithful witness to the Good News proclaimed by Jesus Christ.
We extend to you our prayers and blessing for this celebration of Catholic Education Week.
Yours in Christ,
