Karl Germann joined Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools in August 2001 as an Assistant Superintendent responsible for Human Resources, Special Education, & Curriculum/ Instruction. In August 2004 he was appointed Superintendent of Schools. In 2001 the school district ehad a student population of 2300 students with a budget of 15 million dollars. Today the staff in the Catholic school district educates over 5100 students and spends 65 million dollars (excluding capital).
Karl was born in Humboldt, SK. and attended school in St. Augustine, St. Dominic, and Humboldt Collegiate, graduating in 1984.
Karl attended St. Peter's Junior College in Muenster, SK for one year, taking first year Arts & Science through the University of Saskatchewan. He received B. Arts (Saskatchewan) 1988, B. Education (Regina) 1990, & Masters in Education (Regina) 1999, specializing in Curriculum & Administration. He served as a Teacher & Administrator (Meadow Lake School Division, SK) 1990-97 & 1999-2001. In 1999 he was appointed Superintendent of Curriculum & Technology in Meadow Lake SD (now NorthWest SD).
Karl was also an Instructor at the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina from 1997-1999. There he taught Educational Professional Studies and Educational Technology.
